How is this going to work?

Team:

We need you to do a few things to help make this trip a success:

(1) Interviews. Cornel will line them, you just need to send updates as to our estimated arrival day/time. Estimated time per day: 10 mins by one person.

(2) Arrange logistics. Find decent accomodation every day based on our progress. Estimated time per day: 20 mins by one person.

(3) Calories. John, Fred, and I (to set a world record) need to be exclusively focused on biking. We need food available to us whenever we need it. We need your help to ensure we have enough nutrition available to our studly bodies.  Estimated time per day: 20 - 40 mins by one person.

(4) Bars. We need the support team to arrange our social lives. You need to make friends with locals to know where we need to hang out. Put in a good word for us so we can arrive like rock stars. Estimated time per day: 30 mins by one person.

(5) Solve problems. We bike. Shit happens. You fix it. Estimated time per day: unknown.

Mark, John, Freddy

Status Updates

For any fans (or parents) that would like regular updates during the wild excursion across the USA, please identify yourself by listing your name, phone number, and email address in the comments section. Please also indicate if you prefer an email or voicemail update.

We will be using two forms of awesome new technology. Pinger (to send a voicemail to a large group) and Jott (to record a voicemail and have it sent to a group as an email).

This will be a free service for those interested in (almost) daily updates during the ride.  It is the fastest way to track our progress. Website updates will be made but not as frequently.

Man Code

Everyone must memorize the Man Code. It will be in effect for the entire trip.

You can find it here: http://www.seductionlabs.org/2007/07/30/the-man-code/

Sincerely,

 Mark

New Idea

Far be it from the most exciting part of this trip, but I feel an important rule should be that all participants that feel like participating should try to buy the cheesiest touristy-type crap little trinket from at least every state we visit, if not every stop.  I’m talking like an armadillo-with-a-diaper-on keychain in Texas.  Who’s with me?

Night Lights

I have an arsenal of very bright lights / strobes i fixed to my bike. I took it out on a 60 mile test ride last night to St. Pete between 8 and 11pm. It was awesome. Biking at night is the way to go, for sure. My bike can be seen from about 2 miles away.

180 miles is RIDICULOUSLY long. I hope you guys are ready. Its going to be insanely painful to keep going after the first 150 miles.

We should bring sleeping bags and a tent too. Does anyone have a good tent we can borrow?

I also have a GPSMap 76csx with a handlebar mounts. No need for a bike computer.

WORLD’S MOST PERFECT FOOD

Nutritional Facts Header
They're good for you

Bananas are one of nature’s best energy sources, high in vitamin B6 and a good source of vitamin C, potassium and dietary fiber.

Bananas have no fat, cholesterol or sodium.

A medium-sized banana has 110 calories.

A single banana supplies 20% of the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance of B6, a vitamin that helps the body use proteins and fats.

Because bananas are sodium-free, they can be eaten as part of a diet to reduce the risk of high blood pressure.

A diet low in fat and high in fruits and vegetables may reduce your risk of some cancers.

Bananas contain more digestible carbohydrates than any other fruit. The advantage is, your body burns off calories from carbohydrates more quickly and easily than calories from protein or fat.

Although research and modern medicine have helped decrease the number of deaths related to heart disease, a balanced, healthy diet and regular exercise can also help reduce risk factors for heart disease.

Bananas are a heart-healthy food when eaten as part of a low-fat, balanced diet.

Bananas are great for babies. They are one of the foods lowest in allergens: very few babies are allergic to bananas. Bananas are exceptionally easy to digest because they have no fat.

For growing children, bananas help meet caloric and energy needs. Since small children have small stomachs, they don’t consume all their daily requirements in just three meals, so bananas are perfect between meal snacks.

Bananas are one of the cleanest fruits to eat because of their naturally protective skins.

The T-shirt launch

John and Fred teamed together in efforts to produce a much anticipated t-shirt for 3guys1bike. Surrounded by critics about John and Fred’s artistic talent, a 50 dollar bet is confidently wagered by teammate Mark and support team captain Elizabeth against the t-shirt’s marketability. John and Fred understand pessimism as much as a hippie understands a bra, so the 50 dollar bet was made. The conditions of the bet: - while wearing the 3guys1bike shirts, John and Fred would have less than 3 strangers approach them with curiosity towards what the shirts.

5 hours after the t-shirts are fabricated, John and Fred are $50 dollars richer.
